In Living Black and White

I've come across umpteen different ways to make black and white in the digital age...  Each one seems to be more confusing than the last.  What I've found is that the key, in my work, to good black and white, is in getting really good color with strong mid tone contrast, and plenty of highlight detail.  After that has been accomplished, the problems of conversion seem to vanish.
